POSE ONE
Reclined Mountain Pose
(Tadasana)
This is the foundation of all poses in Ready to Heal. Always start here, and return to the pose as you need throughout your practice. Bend your knees and place both feet flat if the lower back needs more support.
Start each pose in this shape and return to it anytime.
A
Stabilize
Lie down on your mat or whichever soft, firm surface you have chosen for practice.
Bend your knees and place your feet flat on the floor.
Start to focus on your breathing.
Invite 5-10 slow breaths, in
and out.
Let them anchor you in this moment, now.
B
Action
Extend both legs out full, one at a time.
As you lie in Reclined Mountain pose, begin to observe your alignment.
Ask yourself:
Are my shoulders level?
Are my shoulders or chest twisting?
Is either hip elevated?
Is my neck aligned with
my spine?
Are my arms equal distance apart from my body?
Are my legs equal
distance apart?
Is there any discomfort in my lower back? If so, place a pillow or bolster under the knees.
Stay here for about 2-5 minutes.
Observe. Present Yourself. Feel.
There is no need to correct anything. However your pose looks or feels, you are still practicing it.
Simply observe and become aware.
Bring awareness to each part of your body. Breathe into any parts that feel discomfort. Be kind to them and to yourself.
Have questions on the pose? I want to hear from you.
